Welcome Central Conservation AmeriCorps Members!
Central Conservation is the nonprofit 501(c)3 nonprofit conservation agency for WisCorps and The Nature Place. Whether you are joining WisCorps or The Nature Place, you will be serving as a Central Conservation AmeriCorps member.
Please complete the four steps below in the order listed. For questions or additional assistance to complete these steps, email us at [email protected].
Step #1: Complete Central Conservation’s Onboarding Packet
Estimated Time: 20-30 minutes to complete
Information Needed:
- Medical background
- Insurance information
- Valid ID (drivers license or passport)
- Social security card
- Bank account info if signing up for Direct Deposit (optional)

Step #2: Fingerprinting and Statewide Background Check through Truescreen
Estimated Time: 10 minutes to set up your account, schedule your fingerprint appointment and initiate your background check. 10 minutes (not including your travel time) to attend your fingerprinting appointment!
- WAIT FOR our Administrative team to initiate your fingerprint request and statewide background check through Truescreen. Please look for an email from [email protected] a few days after completing your Central Conservation Onboarding Packet is complete (see step one above).
- Follow the steps in that email to create a Truescreen account.
- Schedule your fingerprint appointment at your convenience.
- Sign the required agreements to compete the statewide background check process.
- ATTENTION – Central Conservation pays for all AmeriCorps fingerprinting.
To Reschedule your fingerprinting appointment: call Truescreen directly or reschedule online. CENTRAL CONSERVATION WILL BE CHARGED FOR MISSED APPOINTMENTS.

Step #3: Create your MyAmeriCorps Account
Estimated Time: 20 minutes to complete
How to create your MyAmeriCorps Account
- WAIT FOR an invitation email from AmeriCorps. Administrative Staff will invite you to the AmeriCorps Portal, you do not need to register for an account on your own. If you already have an account, you will still need to follow the steps in the email to register for service.
- Follow the steps in the email to set up your account. You will need your account login and password to offboard at the end of your service and to access your education award, please save this information somewhere!
- If you are having difficulty completing this step, please let our administrative staff know by emailing us at [email protected].
STEP #4: AMERICORPS ONBOARDING PACKET
Estimated Time: 45 minutes to complete
How to complete your AmeriCorps Onboarding Packet:
- Closer to your start date, Administrative Staff will send your AmeriCorps Onboarding Packet through DocuSign, containing your Member Service Agreement and Position Description.
- Initial and sign all forms, then hit FINISH!
Hurray! After you have completed all of these steps, you are finished with the AmeriCorps Onboarding process! Feel free to check in on the status of your onboarding process with Administrative Staff at anytime, but know that we will be in the persistent contact with you if we feel that you are falling behind or are in danger of losing your spot and will give you adequate warning before that happens.
