A Leadership Transition

After 16 years of dedicated leadership, Matthew Brantner, Executive Director of Central Conservation and founder of WisCorps, will be transitioning from the organization and the divisions it serves. Brantner’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping WisCorps and The Nature Place into thriving community organizations dedicated to conservation, land stewardship, and environmental education.

“I am excited to continue in a part-time advisory role for 10 months as Central Conservation launches the search to appoint a new Executive Director. I look forward to supporting the organization’s ongoing mission while providing stability through the leadership change,” said Brantner of the upcoming transition.

The Central Conservation Board of Directors has appointed Emily Post as Interim Executive Director beginning April 1, 2025. Post joined the organization in 2015 and currently serves as Director of Administration, where she has been directly involved in all facets of running the organization for the past 10 years. Post’s appointment as Interim Executive Director will provide additional stability and continuity through the transition.

Additionally, the organization is partnering with Diverse Search & Associates to conduct a nationwide search for a highly qualified individual to lead Central Conservation into the future. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for conservation and a forward-thinking vision to enhance the organization’s influence, extend its reach, and develop both existing and future divisions. Details and a full Executive Director job description can be found at here.

Under Brantner’s leadership, Central Conservation, WisCorps, and The Nature Place have evolved into impactful programs that have significantly advanced conservation efforts throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest. As the organization embarks on this new chapter, it remains committed to providing meaningful conservation opportunities to our local communities and connecting more people with nature.

Please join us in expressing our deepest gratitude to Matthew Brantner for his years of service and dedication. His legacy will continue to shape Central Conservation’s mission for years to come.
